Eminem To Serve As Detroit Lions Honorary Captain For Monday Coin Toss

Eminem will show his hometown some love when the rapper reps the Detroit Lions for their opening coin toss against the New York Jets at Ford Field on Monday night (September 10).

On Thursday, the Lions made the announcement via social media, writing, "Season Launch Week presented by @RocketMortgage continues with some HUGE news! Joining the #Lions captains for the coin toss is legendary Detroit-native and Grammy award-winning rapper, @EMINEM."

Em's upcoming booking comes after a week of heavy publicity, which saw him drop a diss-filled surprise album, Kamikaze. It also saw Lupe Fiasco insert himself into Em's beef with Joe Budden. After Budden told his podcast listeners that his flow has been better than Slim Shady for the last decade, Fiasco boldly claimed that he can rap better than both of the hip-hop heavyweights. In efforts to explain why he shared a parody video of Eminem's rapping style, courtesy of Instagram comedian Blobert Morechairs, Fiasco took to social media to admit that he enjoys Slim Shady, but went in for the jugular. "I like Em & most other rappers & I want no smoke but if I did I would destroy them all," Lupe wrote in a since-deleted post. "Especially Joe Budden & Em too."

Meanwhile, Machine Gun Kelly let Slim Shady have it when he went on a rampage about the rapper, before delivering his diss track "Rap Devil" at his Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena show as the opener for Fall Out Boy on Thursday. "This is not a battle between Michigan and Ohio," he said. "This is a battle between the past and the motherf**kin' future!"
