The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz centered around All-Star forward Jaren Jackson Jr., sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday (February 3).
"BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading star forward Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Utah Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks, sources tell ESPN," Charania wrote on his X account. "The Jazz make a major swing for Jackson and team him with Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, Walker Kessler and more. The move signals a full rebuild for the Grizzlies around its promising young core and now as many future first-round picks as any team in the NBA."
Jackson was an All-Star in two of the last three seasons, the 2023 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection and a 2025 All-Defensive Second Team. The former Michigan State standout is averaging 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 blocks in 45 appearances during the 2025-26 season and has averaged 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists during his eight-year NBA career.
The Grizzlies are currently 19-29, ranked 11th in the Western Conference, one spot out of the final play-in seed. The Jazz are currently 15-35, ranked 13th in the Western Conference.
