Cowboys Red Zone Struggles Lead To Loss

The Oklahoma State Cowboys had plenty of opportunities down deep in the heart of Texas Longhorn territory but an ineffective offensive line and some questionable play calling squandered them in a 36-30 loss Saturday night.

The Cowboys drove inside the Texas 10 yard line five times but come up with touchdowns on just two of those deep drives. The Cowboys kept trying to force the run even though OSU's offensive line could not consistently move their Texas counter-parts out of the way. OSU ran nine plays inside the 10 and only one of those was a pass. On the Cowboys first three drives of the second half they got to the Texas 22 yard line or better each time but came away with only three points.

Statistically the game was very close 498 total yards for Texas, 494 for OSU. 226 yards rushing for the Pokes, 217 for Texas. 26 first downs for the Cowboys, 26 first downs for the Longhorns. The biggest difference was OSU had to settle for too many field goals while the Longhorns were getting touchdowns.
