The Oklahoma City Thunder hadn't beaten the San Antonio Spurs by more than 14 points...ever. The Thunder also hadn't had eight players score in double figures against the Spurs, or any other team for that matter...ever.
After last night neither of those facts are still true.
OKC clobbered San Antonio 131-103, a 28 point margin of victory, and eight Thunder players, all five starters plus Dennis Schroder, Nerlens Noel and Abdul Nader, scored in double figures. Three of those guys had double-doubles and Chris Paul was a rebound shy of a triple-double.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Steven Adams dominated inside with 21 points and 14 rebounds and CP3 had 12 points, 10 assists and nine boards.
But one of the most impressive performances came from undrafted rookie Louguentz Dort.
Dort has been outstanding on defense from the get-go, has offense has come and gone. Last night he was a pest against the Spurs at both ends of the floor. He hit all six of his shots, including two 3s, finishing with 15 points, three steals, two assists and two rebounds.
This time last season Dort was a freshman at Arizona State. He signed a two-way contract with the Thunder but he's worked his way into the starting lineup and will surely be rewarded with a full NBA contract to make sure he's available for the playoffs.
The Thunder remain in sixth place in the Western Conference but are just a game and a half behind both Houston and Utah for fourth place.
OKC will play at Chicago tomorrow night then be back home to face former OU star Buddy Hield and the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night.
