Sooners Ready To Roll But QB Question Remains

OU head coach Lincoln Riley told reporters on Sooners media day Friday he would "prefer" to name a starting quarterback sooner rather than later but "I think you get a lot more accurate snap shot of where these guys are really at as camp unfolds."

Most everyone believes the starter will be Jalen Hurts but Riley isn't jumping on that bandwagon yet, at least not publicly.

As for Saturday's first practice Riley said it was "good, got a lot of good situational work. Team effort, enthusiasm — there was certainly a lot of excitement to hit the field, which, with the way they performed in the summer, wasn't really a surprise."

Though day one went well Riley added, "There's still a long, long, long way to go, but it looks a lot different than it did the first day of spring. There's definitely been progress in learning the schemes, the guys who were here in the spring being a little bit more comfortable. We look better physically."
