The Oklahoma defense had appeared to be improved this season but hadn't really faced a stern offensive test until Saturday against Texas. The Sooners passed that test with flying crimson colors, sacking Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger nine times and recording 15 tackles for loss in limiting UT to just 305 total yards.

OU's 34-27 win was their eighth in the last 11 meetings with Texas. The Sooners offense struggled through the much of the first half and Jalen Hurts turned the ball over twice with a fumble at the 'Horns 7-yard line and an interception. But Hurts ended the day with 235 yards passing and three touchdowns (all to Ceedee Lamb) and 131 yards rushing and another touchdown. Lamb tied his career high with those three scores while setting a career high with 10 catches for 171 yards.

Lamb's performance earned him the Walter Camp Foundation's National Offensive Player of the Week Award.

The Sooners finished with 511 total yards (276 rushing and 235 passing) while holding Texas to 305 total yards (100 rushing and 205 passing).

OU next will host West Virginia at 11am on Saturday, you can see that game on FOX.
