Riley Mum On Reported Sooner Suspensions

Rumors have swirled around for several days and yesterday right about the time OU coach Lincoln Riley was talking about the 2020 recruiting class SoonerScoop.com reported at least three Sooner players have been suspended for national semi-final game in the Peach Bowl.

"I'm aware of the report that’s out there but unfortunately at this time, I cannot comment on it,” Riley said when asked if any of his players had been suspended.

SoonerScoop and then other media outlets reported running back Rhamondre Stevenson, defensive end Ronnie Perkins and wide receiver Trejan Bridges would miss the game. Those reports also indicated other players could be at risk. Failed drug tests involving marijuana were being reported as the reason for the suspensions.

Running back Kennedy Brooks, who was injured in the Big 12 Championship game, will play according to Riley, "Kennedy Brooks will play," he said when asked directly about his starting running back. When Riley was asked if Stevenson would play the coach responded with his previous answer, "Kennedy Brooks will play," seemingly confirming the reports.

Riley then declined to answer when asked directly about Perkins and added when he was able to talk about the situation he would but he did not give a timetable as to when those answers might be coming.
